Giving to BioResource and Agricultural Engineering
MAKE A DONATION TODAY
The BRAE department emphasizes hands-on, Learn by Doing programs, providing learning opportunities to develop the next generation of leaders in agriculture on the local, state, and national level. While the state provides some funds to make this possible, private support drives much of the BRAE programs’ Learn by Doing by supporting student and faculty research.
ONGOING SUPPORT
BRAE and ASM students learn by doing and seeing. Field trips are an important part of their learning experience. We start by sending all our freshmen students out to see California agriculture, including food processing and machinery fabrication. During their time here they also visit irrigation part manufacturing plants near San Diego and Fresno, irrigation districts, and attend a variety of industry specific meetings and shows. This is an important part of their education, and it does not happen without your support because we do not get any State support for field trips.
BRAE Student Research
Student research is funded by industry and various grants. Many of the grants have cost share components, so your support is double for the students.
BRAE Earn by Doing
Earn by Doing is key to our students building a strong resume. Our goal is to have 10 earn by doing positions every year. They provide support in our labs and add additional students to research projects.
Scholarship Endowments
Scholarships are awarded annually to our students. The below funds are open to receiving additional funds, which would result in higher awards to the students.
- Mark and Mike Zohns Out-of-the-Classroom Experiences Endowment
- Melanie and Dr. Richard Cavaletto Endowment Scholarship
- Merriam Endowment Scholarship
